How long do you need to be dating before he gives you a lavaliere?

At my school, it's very big for Greek guys to lavaliere their girlfriends. I've been dating my boyfriend for 10 months, and I think it's getting around that time. Any input or anything I should be looking for?

That is a big gesture, it will most likely happen during a big event or some other memorable moment.

This will not be something that just happens one evening at the TV.
